YES! This place embodies the spirit of Whitman more than anywhere else I can think of in the city these days. Just beautiful. I love the way that here you can still be one with such a great mixture of people - old, young, large, small, every ethnicity, every tight, skimpy, or crazy costume. People letting it all hang out, & a spirit of kindness & love. Will be there later today or tomorrow, & plenty of summer weekdays. Great photos!
You are so right about feeling Whitman! I agree, this is the one place where I feel most at one with the city and everyone in it. People here are celebrating being themselves - no pretensions, guards or guises. Enjoy the day!
